A Complete Video Surveillance System in a Backpack

We'll look at another concealed system today, the backpack video surveillance system. This system includes a camara, DVR, and all necessary cables and power supplies concealed in an ordinary backpack. And there's still plenty of room for storage of other items in the backpack. The system is completely self-contained is ready for immediate covert surveillance work.

Let's take a little closer look at the individual components in this system. There are three different options when choosing the security cameras used in this system. The first option is a black and white wired camera that uses a Sony 1/3" Digital CCD chip, with a resolution of 400 lines and low-light operation down to .05 LUX. The second camera option uses the same camera with the addition of X-Vision technology to the camera, allowing it to see down to an incredible .003 LUX - that's near total darkness! The third security camera option is a color wired camera that uses a 1/4" Sony digital CCD chip, has a resolution of 380 lines and features low-light operation down to 1 LUX.

If you've ever wondered what those LUX values actually mean, here's a quick comparison - 1 LUX is about the amount of light available late in the evening around dusk. .5 LUX is about the amount of light available in a well-lit parking lot at night. And a camera that can see down to .05 LUX can actually record images in less light than unaided human eye. So the optional camera with X-Vision technology would actually allow this camera to see in near total darkness (.003 LUX).

The DVR that comes with the backpack video surveillance system is a completely self-contained portable unit with a rechargeable battery pack. It has enough storage space for up to 40 hours of video. The stored video can be viewed with the built-in 3.5" LCD screen. Or you can connect the unit to the video in connection of a TV or video display monitor. Video can also be transferred to a personal computer using the built-in high speed USB 2.0 interface. The DVR has a built-in voice recorder as well, with enough storage space for 910 hours of audio.
